Everyone starts on their own profile.
The app opens on the Who's watching? screen. Profiles come from your account, so each one brings its own favorites, Continue watching and My list to every screen it signs in on.

A PIN where you want one
Lock a profile, and the TV asks for its PIN before it opens.
Kids get limits
A daily time limit and a bedtime. When time is up, playback stops and the picker comes back.

Live TV
Up and Down change channel.
Most Fire TV remotes have no channel buttons, so while you watch, Up on the ring goes to the next channel and Down to the one before. Press Select and your groups and channels slide up over the lower part of the picture.

- Rewind and Fast forward: Skip 10 seconds, when the stream allows it
TV Guide
Fast forward moves the guide two hours.
Five channels and two hours on screen, with a line at the current time. Select on something on now tunes it; anything later opens its details. Catch-up, where your source keeps past programmes, has a page of its own.

Movies and shows
Resume where you stopped, on any screen.
Each film and series has a page with its description, trailer and episodes. Continue watching and My list follow your profile, so a film paused on one screen resumes at the same minute on the Fire TV.

What each button does
The app answers to every button on a Fire TV remote except the two Fire TV keeps for itself: Home and the voice button.
Navigation ring
Move. While you watch, Up and Down change channel.
Select
Open, play or tune. Hold it for options.
Back
Step back one layer. From the first screen, back to Fire TV.
Menu
Options for whatever is focused.
Play/Pause
Pause and resume, live TV included.
Rewind
Skip back. In the guide, two hours earlier.
Fast forward
Skip ahead. In the guide, two hours later.
Home
Fire TV's home screen. Kept by Fire TV.

Sign in
Scan the screen to sign in.
The Fire TV app has no sign-up screen, so create your account on the web first. Then open the app: it shows a QR code and an 8-character code. Scan the QR code with your phone, or type the code at mytvplayer.app/pair, and confirm.

Add your playlist in the web console. The Fire TV reads what your account already has.
Open My TV Player on the Fire TV
A QR code and an 8-character code fill the screen. A new code replaces it every few minutes.
Scan, confirm, pick a profile
Your phone opens the link. Confirm, and the TV signs in and opens on your profiles.
Install
Two ways onto your Fire TV
Downloader
As an APK, with Downloader
Install Downloader from the Appstore. Allow it to install apps in Settings, My Fire TV, Developer options, Install unknown apps. Then type the address below in Downloader.
Scan with your phone, or type this address in Downloader.
mytvplayer.app/No Developer options? Open Settings, My Fire TV, About, and select your device's name seven times.
Same app as the Appstore version. To update it, open the address in Downloader again.
What you need
- A Fire TV stick, cube or Fire TV smart TV running Fire OS 6 or later
- A Fire TV remote, any model
- A My TV Player account, created on the web
- A playlist or source of your own
Fire TV models that run Vega OS instead of Fire OS do not install Android apps, so they cannot run My TV Player. The app comes with no channels, films or series.
Questions
Before you install
My remote has no channel buttons. Can I still change channel?
Yes. While you watch, Up and Down on the ring change channel. Remotes that do have channel buttons can use those as well.
Can I create my account on the Fire TV?
No. Create it on the web from a phone or computer, then sign in on the TV by scanning its QR code.
Can I record on Fire TV?
No. Recording writes files to a disk and stays in the Windows app. On Fire TV you watch your playlist's live channels, the guide, catch-up, films and series.
Is the Downloader version the same app?
Yes, it is built from the same code. The Appstore version updates through the Appstore; the APK updates when you open the address in Downloader again.
Does it run on every Fire TV?
No. It runs on Fire TV devices with Fire OS 6 or later. Fire TV devices that run Amazon's Vega OS cannot install Android apps, so they cannot run My TV Player.
