My TV Player for Android plays the playlist you bring: live channels, the guide, catch-up, movies and shows. The picture stays pinned at the top while you scroll the list, and it shrinks into a window when you leave the app.

Live TV and guide

Made for a thumb, not a remote.

Tap a channel and it plays in the player pinned above the list. Swipe the chips to change group, star the channels you come back to, and long-press a group to pin it, hide it or lock it with a PIN.

  • Full screen turns the phone sideways on its own. Swipe up or down there to change channel.
  • The guide is a grid you drag with a finger, with a day picker, a Now button and reminders.
  • Catch-up has its own page: pick a channel, a day and a programme, then start it from the top.

Picture in picture

Leave the app. The picture comes with you.

Go to the home screen while something plays and it shrinks into a window you can drag anywhere. The live, catch-up and film players also have a picture in picture button.

Lock the screen and keep listening.

Lock the phone or switch apps and the sound carries on. A media notification stays on screen, with Stop when you are done.

Link a device

Sign in the TV with your phone's camera.

The TV app shows a QR code. On the phone, open Settings, choose Link a device, point the camera at the code and confirm. The TV signs in to your account, and nobody types a password with a remote.

No camera to hand? Type the 8-character code the TV shows with it.

Profiles and kids

Everyone gets a profile. Kids get limits.

Each profile keeps its own favorites, My list and history. A kid profile can have a daily time limit, a bedtime and an age rating, and Live TV can be hidden from it. When the time is up, the app asks a grown-up to unlock it.

  • A PIN can lock a profile, adult content, or a whole channel group.

Pause on the phone, finish on the TV.

Continue watching and My list are saved to your account, not to the phone. The film you stopped on the train is waiting on the TV app at home, at the minute you left it.

On a tablet

Turn it sideways and the list moves beside the picture.

On a tablet the tab bar becomes a rail down the side. Held sideways, Live TV puts the channels next to the picture, Settings opens as a list with its detail beside it, and the movie and show grids widen to six columns.

  • Double-tap to jump

    Double-tap the picture to jump 10 seconds in a film or an episode.

  • Pinch to fill

    Pinch out to fill the screen, pinch in to see the whole picture.

  • Sleep timer

    Stop playing after 15 to 90 minutes, in films and on live channels.

  • Skip intro, Up next

    Jump the opening titles and roll on to the next episode.

  • Audio and subtitles

    Switch tracks, restyle subtitles, or search for subtitles with your own key.

  • Playback speed

    Watch films and episodes from 0.5x up to 2x.

    Sign in with your email and password, or create your account in the app.

  3. Add your playlist

    Paste a playlist link, upload a playlist file or enter a portal login. Sources you already added on the web are there.

One Google Play listing covers phones and tablets. Open the short link on your phone, or scan the code with the phone's camera.

What you need

  • An Android phone or tablet with Android 7.0 or later
  • Android 8.0 or later for picture in picture
  • A My TV Player account
  • A playlist or portal of your own

My TV Player is a player. It comes with no channels, films or shows, and plays only the sources you add.

Questions

Before you install

Does the app come with channels?

No. It plays the playlists and portals you add, and nothing else. Without a source of your own there is nothing to watch.

Can I cast from the phone to my TV?

Not today. The TV gets its own app instead, and Link a device signs it in from your phone in a few seconds.

Does my progress follow me between devices?

Yes. Continue watching and My list are saved to your account, so your phone, your tablet and your TV show the same ones.

Can my kids use their own tablet?

Yes. Pick their kid profile on the tablet. Their time limit, bedtime and age rating apply there too, and a PIN keeps them out of your profile.
