My TV Player vs IPTV Smarters Pro: what you can install, and what it does

If your provider sent you a login, there is a good chance the message also said "install IPTV Smarters Pro". It is the player a large part of the industry points customers to, partly because it reaches many platforms and partly because its developer licenses rebranded copies to providers.

On Windows and Xbox that advice runs into a problem. We searched the Microsoft Store on 2026-10-02 and found 4 apps with Smarters in the name, from 4 different publishers: SmartersPlayer LLC, AMTS Tech Solutions, ssProx and Discover_App. None of them is WHMCS Smarters, the company behind IPTV Smarters Pro, and none of them runs on Xbox.

On Android the original is not on Google Play either: its listing returned "not found" the same day. It has been removed before, by a Spanish court order in December 2022 and in a takedown of 36 apps reported in March 2026. What the developer still publishes in a store is Smarters Player Lite on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV, which describes itself as an M3U player.

Telling the original from a clone#

Store search results all look alike, so look at the publisher line before the screenshots. A Smarters-named app from a publisher you have never heard of may be a perfectly good player. It is not the app your provider's instructions describe, and it is not updated by the people who wrote them.

Before you install any player from a store, check:
  publisher     the company name under the title, not the app name
  updated       a date in the last 6 months
  platforms     "Xbox" listed under available on, if that is your screen
  permissions   a video player needs network access, not your contacts

The comparison table#

We could not find a working page from the developer: its site did not load for us on 2026-10-02. So Smarters cells are marked "reported" where they come from a third-party guide instead. Treat them as such.

Where Smarters is ahead#

Reach, on paper. Through its own builds and the rebranded copies providers distribute, some version of it exists for most screens people own, including smart TVs we do not cover. Our own strategy notes credit it with exactly that, and list a dated interface and weak buffer control against it.

Where My TV Player is ahead#

It exists, natively, on Windows and Xbox. Not a lookalike, not an emulator: a Windows app and a console app from the same publisher and the same code, signed into the same account.

More at once. Multiview on Windows goes from 2 to 9 tiles, against the 4 screens reported for Smarters, and counts your provider's connection allowance before it opens a tile, so a 2-connection line is never asked for 4 streams at once.

A library, not a list. Films and series get TMDB posters, backdrops and descriptions, 7 sort orders, continue watching on every device, and subtitles that are remembered per series and fetched for the next episode.

A household. Up to 10 profiles with their own favourites and progress, kid profiles with a rating gate, a bedtime and a daily time limit, and a PIN for adult content.

Nothing typed on a TV. Add your Xtream login once in a browser. The Xbox signs in with an 8-character code and a QR, and every source arrives on its own.

Streams that repair themselves. Auto-repair sorts a failing live stream into 1 of 9 fault classes and reconnects, or switches to a backup source of the same channel, before you reach for the remote.

Choosing#

If your provider's instructions say Smarters and your screen is a phone or an Android box, follow them, and install from the source they name. If your screen is a Windows PC or an Xbox, there is no official Smarters build to install, and the same Xtream login your provider sent works in My TV Player.
