The best IPTV player for Windows 11? A feature table, not a ranking

Most lists of Windows IPTV players include apps that do not run on Windows. This one counts native builds only, and puts My TV Player next to them feature by feature.

Search for the best IPTV player for Windows and the first page of results will recommend TiviMate, OTT Navigator and IPTV Smarters. None of the 3 ships a Windows application. TiviMate is an Android TV app. OTT Navigator's own FAQ says there is no version for Windows or Mac and suggests an Android emulator. Of the 4 Smarters-named apps in the Microsoft Store on 2026-10-02, none came from the developer of IPTV Smarters Pro.

An Android app inside an emulator is not a Windows player. It does not get hardware decoding the way a native app does, it does not know about your second monitor, and it is one more layer to break when a stream stalls.

So this table counts only what runs natively on Windows. We make one of the columns. Competitor cells come from each product's own listing or documentation, read on the date above.

Kodi versus a dedicated player and the MyIPTV Player comparison go into two of those columns properly.

What only a desktop can do

A PC has more memory, more screens and a keyboard, and a Windows player should use all 3. These are the parts of My TV Player that exist because the hardware allows them.

Multiview. Six layouts from 2 tiles to a 3 by 3 grid of 9. Only 1 tile plays sound, the others stay muted at 640 by 360 so 9 of them fit in memory, and the layout counts your provider's connection allowance before it starts a tile rather than opening a stream the provider will refuse. Watching four channels at once shows the layouts.

Recording to your own disk. Book a programme from the guide and the recording stops at the programme's end. Two programmes back to back on the same channel become 2 files, not 1 file you have to cut. Nothing is uploaded anywhere, and recordings never leave the PC.

Picture-in-picture that is a real window. It stays on top of everything, keeps playing while you drag it to another display, and the video surface moves with it rather than restarting the stream. Live TV on a second monitor covers the multi-screen setups.

HDR and passthrough. HDR output reaches an HDR display, and surround audio can pass through to a receiver untouched.

A keyboard. Ctrl+K searches from anywhere, PageUp and PageDown change channel, and the usual player keys work in fullscreen. The seek keys act on films and episodes:

Space or K play and pause
M mute
F, Alt+Enter fullscreen
J and L back and forward 10 seconds (films, episodes)
0 to 9 jump to 0 to 90 percent (films, episodes)
Ctrl+K search
PageUp/PageDown previous and next channel

Keyboard shortcuts worth knowing has the full map.

What the rest of the app does

A guide that does not stay empty. Paid plans accept up to 15 XMLTV sources plus ready-made country guides, and when one channel matches the wrong listing you fix that channel by hand instead of hoping the next refresh gets it right. What XMLTV is explains the matching.

Catch-up with resume. Past programmes on archived channels play from the guide, and the app keeps your place.

A film and series library. TMDB posters and backdrops, 7 sort orders, trailers, continue watching and mark watched. Subtitles are searched from the player with your OpenSubtitles key, remembered per series, and fetched for the next episode automatically. Intros can be skipped where the episode is known.

A household. Up to 10 profiles, each with its own favourites, history and progress. Kid profiles have a rating gate, a bedtime and a daily time limit.

One account for the PC and the TV. Sources, favourites, custom groups, channel order, progress and multiview layouts sync to the Xbox app. Set it up once on the PC and the console signs in with a code.

Where we are behind

The app is young, and some numbers prove it. Our own profiling of a 12 minute browse session ended at 918 MB and peaked at 1,080 MB against a 400 MB budget we set ourselves. That surprised me when I first read it, and it is being worked on. The minimum we list is 4 GB of RAM, and 8 GB if you use multiview.

There is no Android, iPhone or smart TV app. Windows and Xbox are the 2 platforms we ship today.

Choosing

Try 2 of these with your real playlist for an evening. VLC confirms in a minute that a provider plays at all. IPTVnator is a good open-source choice on a Mac or Linux box as well. Kodi makes sense if it already runs your film library.

If you want recording, multiview, a proper film library and the same setup on your Xbox, that is what My TV Player was built to do. Installing it on Windows 11 walks through the first launch.
